Be careful with your android device. If you receive a PNG format image you might be getting hacked. Be careful of downloading image from anywhere from the internet or receiving it through an email ora social messaging app.
Yes the user that is receiving the image. By just viewing it is possible that your android phone gets hacked. It’s because of three newly discovered vulnerabilities that have been discovered. That will affect a large portion of android users that are running their cell phones from Android version 7.0 to version 9.0.
This isn’t the first time that PNG files have been known for such issues even in the past. They can be rigged with such vulnerabilities. The transferring medium through social apps can be also achieved easily with a PNG file.

The vulnerabilities that have been identified
Including these three vulnerabilities google has patched 42 vulnerabilities in its mobile OS, 11 of which were stated by google critical and 30 high & one with extensive severity.
The vulnerabilities have been patched by Android Open source Project (AOSP) by google as a security update that will be released in February.
As every handset producer doesn’t take frequent security updates, Due to which it’s going to take time before users receive the solution. So beware of PNG images android users.
GOOGLE stated “the most severe of these issues is a critical security vulnerability in Framework that could allow a remote attacker using a specially crafted PNG file to execute arbitrary code within the context of a privileged process.”
A hacker can trick a user by making them open a PNG file on an android phone.
