The update for the FACETIME vulnerability has been released by APPLE INC. The update is iOS 12.1.4. The patch was much awaited that it could be implemented. As published before what the vulnerability was it had to be released soon as possible.
The bug (CVE-2019-6223) was found by a 14 year old named Mr Grant Thompson of Catalina Foothills High School while he was trying to set up a Group FaceTime session with his friends.
In the update three more vulnerabilities were highlighted that have been resolved in the ios 12.1.4. Update. Reportedly being exploited in the wild, definite by Google Project Zero researchers, who found and revealed these vulnerabilities to Apple. The last bug was also related to FaceTime.
CVE-2019-7287: Memory corruption issue that could allow a malicious app that it executes haphazard code with kernel privileges
CVE-2019-7288: Apple security team discovered this flaw it is linked with live photos and FaceTime issue.
CVE-2019-7286: It is a memory issue in the software kernel of the apple phones in which it gives access to multiple malicious applications to the user’s phone memory.
It is recommended that users that haven’t updated their iPhone to the new update should do it as soon as possible. Some users will get a notification of the update but some will have to get it updated manually by going to settings then general and software update.
